Roy Alexander Harrison 1931-1994 Obituary

Funeral services for Mr. Roy Alexander Harrison 63, of Louisiana were held at 2 p.m. Thursday Nov 17 at the Collier Funeral Home in Louisiana. The Rev. Joy Settles officiated Burial was in the Riverview Cemetery in Louisiana. Mr. Harrison died Monday, Nov 14 1994 at the Christian Northeast Hospital in St Louis. 

He was born Jan 19 1931 in Louisiana to Hershel and Lola Arend Harrison. He married Mary Edith Niffen April 10 1952 at the First Baptist Church in Louisiana. She survives. 

Other survivors include three sons, Roy Harrison of Nebo, Ill, Lester Harrison of Rockport, Ill, and David Harrison of Louisiana. four daughters Angela Reddick of Plainville, Ill, Debbie Besaw and Lydia Knight both of Alton, Ill, and Kathy Jones of Michael, Ill six brothers Louis Harrison of Collage Hills, Ill, Herschel Harrison of Eolia, Nelson Harrison of Eolia, Herbert Harrison of Brighton, Ill, Edgar Harrison of Louisiana, and Irvin Hoaglin of Alton, Ill, three sisters Lydia Hoaglin of Louisiana, Georganna Wineland of Hot Spring, Ark, and June Niffen of Louisiana. seventeen grandchildren and one great grandson. 

Mr. Harrison had been employed by Laclede Steel at Alton, Ill, as a maintenance mechanic for 37 years and retired in January of 1994. 

He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and served in the Panama Canal Zone as a MP with U.S. army. He was a member of the Otterville Baptist Church in Otterville, Ill, and a member of the American Legion in Dow, Ill. 

Music was provided by Mr. Harrison's three son's Lester Harrison, Roy Harrison and David Harrison and by Mrs. Shirley Settles. 

Pallbearers for Mr. Harrison were James Niffen, Robert Niffen, Bill Niffen, Bill Hoaglin, James Patton, John Clark, and Tony Niffen. 

Members of the American Legion Post 370 of Louisiana conducted graveside military honors. Visitation was held from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday Nov 16 at Collier Funeral Home.
