Geo Arend and Miss Emily Hoskin come down here to be Married at the home of the Groom's Aunt.


George B. Arend and Miss Emily E. Hoskin came down from Keokuk this morning secured a marriage license and will be made husband and wife this atfernoon at 4 o'clock at the home of the groom's aunt, Fred Buehrig of 1001 Jefferson street with Rev. William Schlinkman paster of St. Peter Evangelical church officiating. A number of their friends will be present at the ceremony and a fine supper is to be served the evening. The groom is the son of August Arend of La Grange, Mo., who is a brother of Mrs. Buehrig. He is employed at a shoe factory in Keokuk and it was there that he met Miss Hoskin, who is a resident of that city. They leave this evening for Keokuk where they will make their home.

----- Sudden Death -----
Of John H. Arent Yesterday Afternoon at his Daughter's - Stricken Twice With Paralysis Within two hours.
John Henry Arent aged 75 years, died suddenly yesterday afternoon at 5 o'clock at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ed Quaas, 1535 North Seventh street, from a stoke of paralysis. Mr. Arent's wife died the last of last March and since that time he had made his home with his grandson, Louis Schaller, who is a bartender at the Quaas saloon. Yesterday afternoon Mr. Arent went over to the saloon as was his daily custom and while in the yard at the side of the house at 3:30 o'clock he was suddenly stricken with paralysis. A doctor was called but could give him but little relief, and at 5 o'clock Mr. Arent suffered a second stoke which resulted in his death almost immediately. Deceased was in fairly good heath up to the time of the first stocke yesterday afternoon and hid death was a great shock to his family and friends. He was had lived in this city for twenty-five years, and leaves four daughters and two sons to mourn his loss. He attended St. Peter Evangelical church. The interment will occur to-morrow.

----- Death's Summons -----
Mrs. Anna Martha Arent died last night at 11 o'clock from a complication of diseases at age of 74 years and 8 months at her home, 1230 Hampshire street. She was born in Germany, where, fifty-one years ago, she was married to John Henry Arent. Mr. and Mrs. Arent have long been residents of this city and her death makes one more break in the ranks of old settlers which are so rapidly thinning out. Besides her hushand she leaves two sons and four daughters.
