Eliza Jane Harrison "Quaite" Death Notice

Mrs. Elizabeth Jane Harrison, widow of the late Joseph G. Harrison, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Roy Dillender, on Georgia street, In the city, at 3:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon. Mrs. Harrison had suffered a stoke of Paralysis about fifteen mouths ago, from which affliction she never recovered and Saturday a. m. she was again stricken. The funeral was held Monday afternoon, services being conducted at the Baptist church by Rev. J. W. Jeffries, in the presence of a large number of sorrowing relatives and friends hymns of the deceased "Abide With Me" and "Shall We Gather atthe River" were sung by the choir. Rev. Jeffries read the 23rd Paalm and verses from the Book of Job, from which he took his text for his impressive sermon, vis: "I Know that My redeemer liveth"' There were many beautiful foral offerings. Interment in Riverview cemetery followed the services at the church. The pallbearers were Clyde Dillender, Percy Dillender, William Dillender, Rfs Holliday, Claude Ham, Lonnie Cunningham. Eliza Jane Quaite was born May 9th, 1847, in Wayne county, Indiana. She was married to J. S. Harrison, August 3rd 1863. She leaves to mourn her departure, six children W. M. Harrison os Steeleville, Mo., Mrs. John Hunter and L. E. Harrison of California, Mrs. Carl Kircher of Richmond, Ind., H. B. Harrison and Mrs. R. A. Dillender of Louisiana: also one brother G. W. Quaite of this city. 16 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Mrs. Harris has been a member of the Baptist church for fifty years.

Louis Edward Harrison died at his home in Pleasant Valley a short distance north of town at 4 p. m. Sunday at the age of 68 years, 5 months, and 11 days. He was the son of Joseph, and Eliza Jane Quaite Harrison and born in the state Illinois. His parents also were natives of that state. Funeral services were conducted in the chapel of the Haley mortuary at 2:30 o'clock this afternoon by Rev. J. E. Chappell and Interment was in Riverview cemetery. Mr. Harrison was the a brother of Mrs. Roy Dillender. He was the father of Herschel Harrison, fisherman, who died suddenly while fishing in his boat in the river Oct. 9.

I have found the oldest child Elizabeth of John and Anna. I knew she was living when Jhn and Anna died. She was living in Gage, Nebraska and got married to a Andrew Kindschi 3 Sep 1874 in Lincoln, Lancaster, Nebraska. She had 7 children but 6 was living in 1900.

Elizabeth S. Arend was born Feb 1848 in Hessen, Germany, and died in Gage, Nebraska. She married Andrew Kindschi 3 Sep 1874 in Lincoln, Lancaster, Nebraska, son of Andrew Kindschi and Mary Brader. He was born Sep 1841 in Germany.

Children of Elizabeth S. Arend and Andrew Kindschi are:
2 i. Andrew George Kindschi was born abt 1876 in Clatonia, Gage, Nebraska. He married Anna M. Hatz 14 Feb 1900 in Saline, Nebraska, daughter of Edward Hatz and Anna Rothenberger. She was born 1878.
3 ii. Henry John Kindschi was born Jan 1877 in Nebraska. He married Ella K. Albert, daughter of Eberhart Albert and Mary Elsher. She was born 1877 in Nebraska.
4 iii. Ellen Kindschi was born abt 1879 in Nebraska.
5 iv. Anna Kindschi was born abt 1880 in Nebraska.
6 v. August Oskar Kindschi was born 7 JUL 1883 in Clatonia, Gage, Nebraska, and died 7 NOV 1967 in Lincoln, Lancaster, Nebraska.
7 vi. Mary Kindschi was born Sep 1885 in Clatonia, Gage, Nebraska.

He's the son of John Herny Arend and Anna Martha Bax/Box. He was born in Großenritte, Hessen, Germany.

He's Wife Frederica Christine "Ricke" Meyer Ricke died before 1900. He got marreid to his second Wife Anna Klusmeyer 1901 in Quincy, Adams, Illinois. I guess Anna died before 1910. Frederica is the daugther of Zacharias Meyer and Anne Marie Louise Stranghoener.

John Zackas went to Hancock, Illinois and got married to a Margaret C. Hassett in Lee, Iowa. Maggie is the daughter of Joseph Patrick Hassett and Katharine Fitzpatrick. John was still living when August died and I guess he died after his father killed himseft. They had 4 boy's. Thier third boy John died young in 1924. Thier oldest Joesph was listed in 1930 in Lewis, Missouri and he had a stillborn died there. The other son's Edward and Robert died in Lee, Iowa between 1970 and 1980. John have grandkids living in Hancock, Illinois.

August Herny got married tree time's to Minnie Belle Sisley, Mary Alice Orleans and Ethel R. Wright in Lee Iowa. August and Minnie had 2 boy's and 3 girl's. Thier son Albert went to Terre Haute, Vigo, Indiana. He's listed in 1930 with the Cole's. I think He married to a Mabel Cole and then to a Eva May. Thier duaghter Lola ran off and got married to a Hershel Harrison. She lived in Pike, Missouri and died there in 1980. Blanche F., Raymond Floyd, and Gladys M. stayed in Iowa.

Otto F. never got married and died in a Poor house which it turned into a Prairie View Rest Home. His brother August is in his death certificate. He's lised 1910 as a inmate and then listed in 1920 as a servant.

George Benard got married to a Canada girl Emily Edith Hoskins. Emily is the daugther of John Wesley Hoskins and Christina E. Long. He worked at shoe factory of Huiskamp Brothers. They met at his work in Lee, Iowa. Then they got married at his aunt's Katherine "Arend" Buehrig House in Quincy, Adams, Illinois. They had 2 boy's and a daughter. George Wesley, Kenneth Richard and Esther. One of them died young. He died in Ontario, Canada.

Edward Martin got married to a Loretta Lou Case in Lee, Iowa and she already had a son name Hugh F. Bell. Loretta is the daughter of Andrew Jackson Case and Ellen F. Watson. Loretta died 9 Mar 1923 in Davenport, Scott, Iowa . Loretta was 6 years older then Edward. They had a son name Maurice Edward. Edward got remarried to a Nora Louise Stratton and they went down in Creek, Oklahoma. Thier children is still living in OK. Edward and his son Maurice died in Phoenix, Maricopa, Arizona.

Geo Arend and Miss Emily Hoskin come down here to be Married at the home of the Groom's Aunt.


George B. Arend and Miss Emily E. Hoskin came down from Keokuk this morning secured a marriage license and will be made husband and wife this atfernoon at 4 o'clock at the home of the groom's aunt, Fred Buehrig of 1001 Jefferson street with Rev. William Schlinkman paster of St. Peter Evangelical church officiating. A number of their friends will be present at the ceremony and a fine supper is to be served the evening. The groom is the son of August Arend of La Grange, Mo., who is a brother of Mrs. Buehrig. He is employed at a shoe factory in Keokuk and it was there that he met Miss Hoskin, who is a resident of that city. They leave this evening for Keokuk where they will make their home.

I couldnt find the oldest Elizabeth anywhere, but she was still living when John and Anna died.

----- Sudden Death -----
Of John H. Arent Yesterday Afternoon at his Daughter's - Stricken Twice With Paralysis Within two hours.
John Henry Arent aged 75 years, died suddenly yesterday afternoon at 5 o'clock at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ed Quaas, 1535 North Seventh street, from a stoke of paralysis. Mr. Arent's wife died the last of last March and since that time he had made his home with his grandson, Louis Schaller, who is a bartender at the Quaas saloon. Yesterday afternoon Mr. Arent went over to the saloon as was his daily custom and while in the yard at the side of the house at 3:30 o'clock he was suddenly stricken with paralysis. A doctor was called but could give him but little relief, and at 5 o'clock Mr. Arent suffered a second stoke which resulted in his death almost immediately. Deceased was in fairly good heath up to the time of the first stocke yesterday afternoon and hid death was a great shock to his family and friends. He was had lived in this city for twenty-five years, and leaves four daughters and two sons to mourn his loss. He attended St. Peter Evangelical church. The interment will occur to-morrow.

Mrs. Anna Martha Arent died last night at 11 o'clock from a complication of diseases at age of 74 years and 8 months at her home, 1230 Hampshire street. She was born in Germany, where, fifty-one years ago, she was married to John Henry Arent. Mr. and Mrs. Arent have long been residents of this city and her death makes one more break in the ranks of old settlers which are so rapidly thinning out. Besides her hushand she leaves two sons and four daughters.
